AMERICAS GRAND PRIX REPORT
The team faced a challenging weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas, with both riders—Eddie O’Shea and Jakob Rosenthaler—crossing the finish line in 17th and 18th position. A Grand Prix where the weather played a crucial role.
Friday started under wet conditions following light rain that persisted throughout the day. Even so, both O’Shea and Rosenthaler spent a large part of the session on track, aiming to gather as much information as possible for the wet set-up.
Eddie O’Shea FP1: 24th PR: 21st
Jakob Rosenthaler FP1: 17th PR: 22nd
The track conditions changed on Saturday, which in turn altered the weekend strategy. Although the sun still had not come out, the rain had stopped, meaning the track, while still damp in some areas in the morning, was virtually dry. Jakob’s crash right at the start of Q1, and later Eddie’s, prevented both riders from setting a fast lap time to improve their positions for Sunday’s race. Fortunately, both were unscathed and ended up qualifying in 24th and 25th positions.
Eddie O’Shea FP2: 13th Q1: 11th
Jakob Rosenthaler FP2: 25th Q1: 12th
The race was challenging, and it became apparent that only a few laps had been completed in dry conditions. Eddie had good pace, although once he was on his own, he struggled to maintain it. Jakob made a strong start, but a mistake at the end of the first lap caused him to drop off the group, and he was unable to catch up again.
EDDIE O’SHEA: Difficult day in the office. Reset and come back stronger in Qatar.
JAKOB ROSENTHALER: Things were unlucky this weekend but I think we made the best out of it.
JORDAN PRITCHARD (Team Coordinator): Overall, it was a disappointing weekend. Eddie showed a good pace, but the tyre performance dropped off, making it hard for him to maintain that pace. It was a lot to ask of Jakob, specially since he’d never ridden a Honda before. He had a great start but made a mistake at the end of the first lap that prevented him from rejoining the group.
We are already focused in Qatar and we will try to improve there.
